Team Spotlight – Rosie Challis

Meet Rosie

Travel Enthusiast, Master Baker and The UK Office Comedian of 2021!

The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

You have been at Just Global for just over eighteen months and have since grown, being recently promoted to Account Manager (congratulations). What made you want to be part of the company and what is your favourite part?

I first initially joined Enigma because we were in a good period of growth, which would mean good career opportunities for me, I was able to learn quickly and therefore be promoted quite quickly (and twice in 7 months..!). Throughout my time, we became Just Global, so my favourite part of working at Just Global is a cliché. my colleagues are a great group of people. Everyone is willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it and makes busy times easier.

We understand you enjoy travelling, where is the best place you have been?
And where is on the list next (when travel is allowed again)?

The place that stands out to me is this little town in Vietnam called Phong Nha, we visited the most beautiful caves, tasted incredible food and managed to stop by a local duck farm. But, in general the whole of Vietnam was my favourite place I’ve traveled. My next travel dream would be a few weeks around Japan, or more immediately a beach trip would be lovely…!

From your previous time in PR, what skills did you learn which were transferrable to your current role?

In my previous role I really learnt how to juggle many balls and keep on top of things. PR is a busy industry, and you have to be very proactive and reactive at the same time, keeping on top of trends so you can media jump from your clients expertise. Agency life is busy, so at Just Global I’ve transferred being able to do 10 things at once, and most of the time, well.

  • Any tips or learnings from these experiences as well, that you care to share?
My biggest tip is to always be curious and ask questions where you are not sure on something. It’s okay to fail too, sometimes those are the times you learn the most.

What are you most passionate about?

  • In life?
Being around people who have a positive impact on my life – those who are spontaneous and fun.
  • In work?
Learning and growing. I always want to be in a position where each day I am adding something of value to my skillset.

Is there a particular moment in your career that you feel most proud of?

Over the last few months at Just Global we’ve won many awards for our work. A couple of the projects I worked on during lockdown have won some of these awards. Shoutout to Causeway and Tata Consultancy Services!

What are your main passions and hobbies?

I absolutely love cooking and baking. My family and I tend to bake every week when the bake off is on, and I cook most days for those around me. I grew up dancing, and have more recently taken up swimming, which is my form of meditation.

Just Global is full of animal owners and lovers, do you have any pets, if so what is their name?

Unfortunately, I have to rely on the many dogs at Just Global to fill the void of not owning one myself. I was fortunate enough to visit one of the puppies a few weeks ago in our office.

What is the first thing you are going to do once we come out of lock-down?

With the past year being quite isolated, I haven’t had the opportunity to see my friends from around the country. So, my uni friends have planned a trip down to Cornwall for a week at the end of June.

You are part of the social committee for the UK office – How did you get into that and are there any socials in the pipeline?

I think it’s always fun to get together your colleagues who would ordinally not have a chance to meet socially, especially with lockdown. We have a summer party coming up in early June for the UK team. Due to the UK restrictions, it will have to be an outdoor endeavour, so we will commence the sun dances to ensure a good time.

  • You helped organise the UK office awards night, how did that go and what award did you win?
The office awards night “It’s Just an Award 2021” was a great success, a two-hour blocked calendar turned into a 6-hour night of awards and chatting. I somehow managed to bag “the Comedian” award, I would have to blame my terrible dad jokes for that one.

What are your top three adjectives?

Important, Auspicious and Loquacious

What is your favourite movie?

The movie that will always get me up and dancing is the Greatest Showman. I have never really been a movie watcher, but over the past year I’ve tried to broaden my horizons, and would say that Trial of Chicago Seven was a film over the past months I’ve enjoyed the most.

What is your favourite food?

You can’t beat a good pizza.

What is your favourite playlist/ artist to listen to…

  • While at work?
If I was planning the music on the work Sonos my go-to is Fleetwood mac, all day every day.
  • To get you motivated/ up in the morning?
Lizzo has to be my motivation music.
