Sharp e-learning academy – Bringing legacy content to life with a new CMS
Overview
Sharp had a legacy e-learning academy which was in need of modernization. It also had a series of old Flash modules which needed to be re-engineered in a responsive way for the new generation of tablets, smartphones and browsers.

Our expertise in e-learning, responsive design and UX meant we could produce a new, clean platform to manage the deployment and account management processes. We also used our DevOps knowledge to automate management of the complex rules behind the products, whose logic varies in 32 markets and languages across the globe.
We built new modules that worked in parallel with older ones until they were ready to be phased out. The configurator uses HTML5 Canvas and can dynamically calculate data as required. All the learning content is managed by a custom drag-and-drop CMS based on Lackey, our open source Node.js based Content Management System, making it easy to maintain and manage global content.
We designed the new HTML exam system to integrate with Sharp's existing systems and implemented GIT version control & SSH/SSL, radically increasing system reliability.
